Application of HumiSeal® UV50LV
For successful application, conformal coatings should be applied to substrates that have been thoroughly cleaned or to those assembled with low residue, "no clean" materials. Users should conduct sufficient testing to ensure compatibility between the conformal coating and their specific assembly materials, process conditions, and cleanliness levels. For more details, please contact HumiSeal.
Spraying
HumiSeal® UV50LV can be applied using standard selective coating equipment or conventional hand spray equipment. To prevent premature curing of the secondary cure mechanism, the source air for spraying must be dry, with a dry inert gas such as air, nitrogen, or argon being highly recommended. Ensure proper ventilation during spraying so that vapors and mist are efficiently carried away from the operator.
Brushing
For rework or touch-up applications, HumiSeal® UV50LV can be applied by brush. After use, brushes should be promptly cleaned with solvent.
Curing
HumiSeal® UV50LV is a highly cross-linked coating that requires exposure to the appropriate spectral output for proper UV curing. HumiSeal has modeled the performance of UV50LV using both Arc and Microwave UV curing equipment. The table below outlines the necessary dosage and irradiance values required for UV exposure to make HumiSeal® UV50LV tack-free. The minimum values provided will result in a tack-free surface, while the maximum recommendations represent the highest tested values by HumiSeal. These cure recommendations may evolve as curing technology progresses.
Clean Up
Non-alcohol based solvents should be used to flush equipment and clean uncured HumiSeal® UV50LV. HumiSeal® Thinner 521 is the recommended solvent for this task.
