HumiSeal® 1B31LOC is a low VOC solvent-based conformal coating. This fast-drying, single-component acrylic coating offers superior moisture and environmental protection for printed circuit assemblies. HumiSeal® 1B31LOC excels in flexibility and electrical properties, fluoresces under UV light for easy inspection, and is easily repairable. Additionally, it is MIL-I-46058C qualified and complies with IPC-CC-830 and RoHS Directive
Application HumiSeal® 1B31LOC
For optimal application of conformal coatings, ensuring the cleanliness of the substrate is crucial. Surfaces should be free of moisture, dirt, wax, grease, flux residues, and other contaminants, as these could cause issues beneath the coating and potentially lead to assembly failures.
Dipping
To achieve a uniform film, it may be necessary to reduce the viscosity of HumiSeal® 1B31LOC by adding HumiSeal® Thinner 701, especially considering the complexity, density, and configuration of components on the assembly. Once the ideal viscosity is achieved, a controlled immersion and withdrawal rate (5-15 cm/min) should be used to ensure even coating deposition. As solvent evaporates during application, viscosity increases, which can be corrected by adding small amounts of HumiSeal® Thinner 701. It's important to regularly check the viscosity in the dip tank using tools such as Zahn or Ford viscosity cups.
Spraying
HumiSeal® 1B31LOC can be applied using conventional spray equipment. It is important to spray in well-ventilated areas to allow for proper dispersal of vapor and mist away the operator. The addition of HumiSeal® Thinner 701 is required for a consistent spray pattern, ensuring a pinhole-free film. The amount of thinner and spray pressure should be adjusted depending on the spray equipment and operator technique.
Brushing
For smaller applications, HumiSeal® 1B31LOC can be brushed on with a slight addition of HumiSeal® Thinner 701. The uniformity of the film will depend on the component density and the operator's skill.
Storage
HumiSeal® 1B31LOC should be stored in tightly sealed containers away extreme temperatures, ideally between 0 and 35°C. Before use, allow the product to acclimate at room temperature (18-32°C) for 24 hours.

Conformal coatings, including HumiSeal® 1B31LOC, should be applied in compliance with local and national health and safety regulations. The solvents used are flammable, so the material should not be applied near open flames or sparks. It is essential to work in well-ventilated spaces to avoid inhaling vapors or spray.
