HumiSeal® 1B18 is a single-component, fast-drying acrylic conformal coating. It offers excellent flexibility and electrical properties, fluoresces under UV light for easy inspection, and can be easily repaired. Additionally, HumiSeal® 1B18 is fully compliant with the RoHS Directive 2002/95/EC and is recognized under UL File Number E105698.
Application of HumiSeal® 1B18
For the successful application of a conformal coating, it is crucial to ensure that the substrate is clean and free moisture, dirt, wax, grease, flux residues, and other contaminants, as any contamination beneath the coating may lead to assembly failures.
Dipping
To achieve a uniform film, it may be necessary to reduce the viscosity of HumiSeal® 1B18 using HumiSeal® Thinner 73, depending on the complexity, density, and configuration of the assembly components. Once the optimal viscosity is determined, a controlled rate of immersion and withdrawal (5-15 cm/min) ensures even coating deposition. As solvent evaporates during application, viscosity will increase, requiring the addition of small amounts of HumiSeal® Thinner 73 to maintain uniformity. Regular viscosity checks should be performed using a Zahn or Ford viscosity cup.
Spraying
HumiSeal® 1B18 can be sprayed using conventional equipment, in an environment with adequate ventilation to direct vapors and mist away the operator. The addition of HumiSeal® Thinner 73 ensures a uniform spray pattern and pinhole-free coating. The recommended thinning ratio is 1:1 by volume, although adjustments may be needed to achieve a uniform coating depending on spray equipment and operator technique.
Brushing
HumiSeal® 1B18 can also be brushed with a small amount of HumiSeal® Thinner 73. The uniformity of the film will depend on the component density and the operator's technique.
Storage
Store HumiSeal® 1B18 in tightly closed containers, away excessive heat or cold. The product should be stored at temperatures ranging 0 to 35°C, and before use, it should be allowed to equilibrate for 24 hours at a room temperature of 18 to 32°C.
Caution
Application of HumiSeal® Conformal Coatings should comply with local and national health and safety regulations. As the solvents in HumiSeal® coatings are flammable, they should not be used near open flames or sparks. Use the material only in well-ventilated areas to avoid inhaling vapors or spray, and avoid contact with skin and eyes. Always consult the MSDS/SDS prior to use.
